Unfortunately, it is not eligible for the competition I had intended to enter it in. I was informed that "it is a painting competition, not a watercolor competition." Huh? Silly me, all this time I thought watercolor paints were . . . paints! Who knew?
Enough about that.

Wow, that's so beautiful and very impressive Tracy. Just enough stuff in there to break up the pattern and of course that tree or branch really anchors it all.
A strange story about the show! I can't even imagine what they're talking about, but something fishy going on there. ????

I was worried about that little tree, but I think it worked out, too.
As for the show . . . yeah, strange - and more than a little condescending. Seems watercolor is still considered the lowly illegitimate brother of oil and acrylic, in their eyes. Go figure.

Doesn't the pretentiousness of some of these shows just make you crazy? Watercolour not paint...snort...their loss.
This is amazing! So much detail and really nice color. Too bad about the show. I think you're right about watercolor being viewed as less than oil and acrylic. Hopefully that will change over time.
Tracy, this painting is gorgeous. It's ridiculous that those people don't consider watercolor to be painting. According to your more recent post, you're in a show, so hooray for you!
