Watercolor Trees - And it may be spring!

Hey all...how's it going? Ya miss me? Yeah.
Well, it was March. It's supposed to be spring in March...but it took a long time coming. And since I spent all winter complaining about the weather, I thought that I would take a break from it. And, well, I didn't have much else to say!
But March is over...and I think it may just be spring at last. I still have 2 feet of snow on my lawn, but it is receding day by day.
Also, my camera died. Just decided one day to stop working, no warning at all...not even a kiss good bye. Very sad really.
And, I was letting my job suck the happiness out of life. Ridiculous. Still working on that one.
And, I entered my first art competition...and have spent far too much time fretting about it. Silly, right? I know. I'm done now...once I realized that it wasn't going to have any bearing whatsoever on the outcome, I decided to relax. I find out on Saturday.
But I have been painting...

Edge of the Woods watercolor 22 x 54 "

This one took awhile. But it was fun watching it take shape. Don't know if anyone will want to buy a painting this big of tree trunks...but I really like it. Click to expand!
What else...hhhmmm...not much really. My life is spectacularily dull. Ya'll wanna come over and visit!? LMAO

Anyway...drop me a line. Tell me a story. Have a nice day!

Yes, you were missed!!! I'm so glad spring is finally reaching you. We have actual buds on our trees here in NY. I like this. There is so much great light in it. It must be so impressive in this size! Wow! Good luck with the competition. What did you enter?

Thanks Clive - Yeah, it would make a nice show, wouldn't it...I'll have to find somewhere to show it...

Hi Joan - Thanks very much...and yeah...it does look pretty cool lol You have buds!? I'm still watching the snow melt! I entered Winter Sky II (it's down at the bottom of this page), and the barn picture that is back on the first or second page, and a painting of a chinese teapot...you may have seen it on WC! So a nice variety of subjects and techniques...we shall see.

Hi Tracy,
I checked and checked and checked to see what you'd been painting. AUgh! A camera funeral to attend. Sorry it died.
BUT, your tree trunk painting is impressive. I like that you paint what you know, what you love.

We finally have a few things bloming. Spring is here so I'll fan some warm air up north to you.
HAVE FUNN at the opening. Keep painting.
Sandy

Hi Tracy,

It was nice to see your stuff at the show - don't watercolors look small beside all those HUGE oils? I like what you've been doing with the aspens - especially the big one - I'm trying to paint bigger too - did you buy a roll of Arches to get that 54" painting?

Beautiful work. This way of painting reminds me to the pointillism of Signat

Wonderful!! I enlarged the painting and am in awe of your technique; the color's are so vibrant, but not "unreal."
I sympathize with the distractions/annoyances you catalog; I am having similar ... Problems with my computer and Internet connection, too much work, a dent in my car, and tomorrow I have to have a tooth pulled! Glad to see you're posting again!

Hey AngelA - Yes, I bought a roll. If you do the same, make sure you have ATLEAST two extra hands to unroll and cut! LMAO

Thank you Daniel - glad to have you stop in and comment. I admire your work very much.

Hi Laura! - Thanks! Yes, don't you just hate it when life happens...I need new glasses, a new camera, and various other annoyances...it gets real old, real fast! Thanks for stopping in! (Check out Daniel Garcia's site...great stuff...and he's cute as a button lol)

Thanks WK - Teaching is great fun! And a great learning experience. Plus, it gets me out of my livingroom/studio!

Thanks Ron - Has he?! I'll have to ask him to put up a pic. He gave me a link awhile back to an artist who did really cool tree paintings...inspiring.
